When it comes to choosing a home internet plan, speed is often the key factor. Cox Communications offers a range of speed tiers, with their Gigabit service promising lightning-fast speeds. But is Cox’s gigabit service worth the cost?
Cox has rebranded and simplified its internet plans, now offering a range of speeds from 100Mbps to 2,000Mbps, depending on your location. They’ve also added helpful labels to each plan to indicate its speed, such as “Go Even Faster” for 500Mbps and “Go Super Fast” for gigabit service.
Cox’s fastest plans are Go Super Fast and Go Beyond Fast, which offer speeds up to 1,000Mbps and 2,000Mbps respectively. However, these speeds come at a price. The Go Super Fast plan starts at $80 per month, while the Go Beyond Fast plan starts at $120 per month, both for the first two years.
While these prices may seem high, it’s important to consider the value you’re getting. Cox’s gigabit plans offer lower cost per Mbps than their slower plans, making them a better bargain in terms of speed. However, many other providers offer gigabit service for less, such as Quantum Fiber, Optimum, and Xfinity.
It’s also worth noting that Cox’s cable internet plans have a 1.28TB monthly data cap. While this is a generous amount of data, exceeding it can result in additional fees. Many other providers don’t have data caps at all.
Cox’s gigabit plans may not be the best deal on the market, but for those who require fast speeds and have few other options, they’re worth considering. Before making a decision, be sure to shop around and compare Cox’s offerings to those of other providers in your area.
