A new update to the X Help Center article titled “How to share and watch videos on Twitter” states that Twitter Blue members can now download videos shared by other subscribers. However, there are limitations to this feature, including an age limit and the ability for posters to opt-out of having their videos be downloadable. If your Twitter Blue account is set to private, only subscribers you’ve allowed to follow you can see and download the video.
X now allows up to two-hour-long videos to be uploaded by Twitter Blue subscribers, which could potentially lead to legal trouble unless the site can properly handle copyrighted materials. Elon Musk has been implementing changes to make the platform more appealing to creators, including ad revenue sharing. Adding video downloads puts X more in line with other shortform social networks like TikTok and Instagram, which both allow users to download videos.
In other news, X/Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino will be speaking at this year’s Code Conference and discussing Twitter’s transformation into X, working alongside Elon Musk, and courting advertisers to the platform. To attend the conference, you can apply on the website.
